Hands and Feet of Christ

The life of a Christian is one of a called life. One of purpose. One of change. When you allow yourself to hear the truth of God, you understand that out of love, you are called to act.

In 2009, I had an opportunity to hear Nick Vujicic speak.  Nick was born in 1982 in Melbourne, Australia, without arms and legs. Throughout his childhood, Nick not only dealt with the typical challenges of school and adolescence, but he also struggled with depression and loneliness. Nick constantly wondered why he was different than all the other kids. He questioned the purpose of life, or if he even had a purpose.

According to Nick, the victory over his struggles, as well as his strength and passion for life today, can be credited to his faith in God.

Nick has a powerful statement, “If God can use a man without arms and legs to be His hands and feet, then He will certainly use any willing heart!”

A day after I heard Nick speak, I had an opportunity to encourage a friend who found out that their unborn child would have significant physical disabilities. As an unbeliever, my friend was in awe of Nick's story and went home with a renewed hope that the Lord would use this child and that their unborn child had a purpose.

You may not have physical disabilities, but the Lord can take any hurt, habit or hang-up and use it for His glory. Let the Lord make beauty from your ashes.

"I have come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly."  - John 10:10
